On 15 September 2026, ToFuel partners met online for a Review meeting to review progress across the project work packages and coordinate the next stages of implementation.

Technical activities are advancing across the ToFuel value chain. In WP2 – Upstream, seasonal tomato residues have been collected by Mutti and Podravka, while work on pretreatment, hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) and algae is progressing.

WP3 – Midstream continues work on fermentation and lipid extraction, including yeast screening, bioreactor testing and lipid-production optimisation.

Progress was also discussed on SAF upgrading and scale-up in WP6, downstream processing of lipids and water management in WP4, and process simulation, LCA and technology assessment in WP5. Partners are continuing to align technical data, samples and methodologies across the work packages to support the next phases of the project.

In WP7 – Dissemination, Communication and Exploitation, the project website, social media channels, first newsletter and promotional materials are now in place, while preparations continue for upcoming project activities and events.

The next Steering Committee meeting is scheduled for 14 October 2026. ToFuel partners are also preparing for the Local Stakeholder Workshop, held alongside the 7th ESEIA Conference in Lisbon on 24 November 2026, and for the ESEIA Lecture on Bioresource Utilisation and Sustainable Aviation Fuels  on 3 December 2026.
