How can tomato residues become a resource for sustainable aviation? ToFuel’s circular biorefinery approach will provide a concrete example of regional bioresource utilisation at the 20th ESEIA Lecture, taking place online on 3 December 2026, 19:00 - 21:00 CET.

Under the title “Bioresources Utilization: Sustainable Aviation Fuels”, the discussion will connect the project’s research with wider questions about feedstock availability, conversion technologies, lifecycle emissions and the economics of scaling up SAF production. ToFuel’s integrated approach aims to produce SAF alongside animal feed, fertiliser and nutritional oil, maximising the value of tomato production and processing residues through efficient carbon and water management.

Organised by ESEIA and TU Graz in cooperation with project partners of ToFuel, the event will feature an invited lecture by Dusita De Hoop, SkyNRG, followed by responses from consortium partners Katja Patzsch, Fraunhofer IGB, and Giorgio Lecchi, Mutti. Their contributions will connect expertise in biotechnology scale-up with the realities of industrial tomato processing.

Markus Lehner, Montanuniversität Leoben, will chair the discussion, hosted by Andrea Höglinger, TU Graz.

Join us to explore how circular bioresource utilisation can help advance sustainable aviation fuel production.
